MAC address change
D2W_OS implements the ability to change the MAC address via the Dashboard program. There is also the possibility of automatic change of MAC-address at the set time, e.g. every 3 hours.
MAC address is a unique code assigned by the manufacturer to a network device (for example, a wireless network adapter or an ethernet adapter). MAC is short for Media Access Control. Each code is assumed to be unique to a particular device.
Changing the MAC address can be useful for several reasons:
-
Anonymity: Changing the MAC address allows you to remain anonymous on the network, as your MAC address is a unique identifier for your device. Changing it can help hide your real location and online identity.
-
Security: Using a fake MAC address can help protect your device from online attacks such as ARP spoofing attacks. This attack uses manipulation of ARP requests and responses to intercept traffic between two devices. Using a fake MAC address can make such an attack more difficult or even rid your device of such a threat.
-
Restriction bypass: changing the MAC address can help bypass network access restrictions. Some networks restrict access to certain MAC addresses only. If you change your MAC address to one of the allowed MAC addresses, you can bypass this limitation.
-
Device ban: if your device has been banned from the network, then changing the MAC address can help bypass this restriction. In some cases, if your device is banned by MAC address, you can use a different MAC address to access that network.
In general, changing your MAC address can help maintain your anonymity, keep your device secure online, and bypass technical network access restrictions.
