Grub-Bootloader


GRUB is the operating system loader. It manages the loading of the operating system kernel.

Setting a password allows

  1. Protect from unauthorized access: The GRUB password protects your operating system from unauthorized access.

  2. Protect against changing boot settings: The GRUB password protects your system from being able to change boot settings.

  3. Protect local data: A password on GRUB can protect local data stored on the hard drive from unauthorized access.

*Keep in mind that a GRUB password is not a guarantee that your system is completely secure, but it can significantly reduce the risk of confidential data leakage and increase the security of your computer.

Instruction

  1. Launch Dashboard

  2. Tab System control

  3. GRUB bootloader → Set password

  4. Assign a password to GRUB

  5. Reboot OS

Now booting the system will prompt you for the password for the GRUB bootloader.
