Grub-Bootloader
GRUB is the operating system loader. It manages the loading of the operating system kernel.
Setting a password allows

Protect from unauthorized access: The GRUB password protects your operating system from unauthorized access.

Protect against changing boot settings: The GRUB password protects your system from being able to change boot settings.

Protect local data: A password on GRUB can protect local data stored on the hard drive from unauthorized access.

Now booting the system will prompt you for the password for the GRUB bootloader.
